Exhibition - Christmas Fairytale by Jasmina Kosanović

Enchanting winter evenings will become even more magical if you decide to visit the Ethnographic Museum. There, you will encounter white fairies symbolizing snowflakes and winter, tiny robins representing the warmth of home on winter nights, and a snowy forest where frozen little animals peek out from behind pine branches. Snow falls, and from the sky, the peace and love of Christmas descend...

The exhibition "Christmas Fairytale by Jasmina Kosanović / Jasmina and Puppets," running until January 9th, will provide you with a genuine Christmas experience.

"Christmas Fairytale by Jasmina Kosanović / Jasmina and Puppets" Jasmina Kosanović lives in the most beautiful world of all worlds. Some might call it a world of fairy tales, others might describe it as a kingdom of puppets, while someone less romantic might label her studio in the heart of Zagreb as a store. And they would all be wrong. Because the world she creates entirely on her own, through a process of continuous creation, is as changeable as the seasons. It mirrors the seasons—adorns itself with frost, adorns itself with yellow leaves, glistens in the first spring sun, and delights in the freshness of a summer evening. There are no main characters here because everyone is essential. And like a coal-black crow, a fox with rusty fur, a seemingly fearsome wolf, and city cats with style and attitude. And into her delicate maidens—Little Red Riding Hood, enchanting Rose, and the most charming Witch—we have all fallen head over heels long ago. This whole group meets in the woods as a mythical place and lives carefree and in harmony among the white birch branches. There are no villains here. What binds them all is that primal goodness and the almost forgotten warmth that resides in the softest childhood memories, grandma's kindness, and bedtime stories from mom.

The author's wish, the well-known Croatian puppet designer Jasmina Kosanović, is that the magic of Christmas night under the auspices of the Ethnographic Museum, through her creativity, inspires visitors to create their own Christmas fairy tale at home. Every Saturday in December, she will explain how she creates her puppets through interactions, and she looks forward to your questions. The exhibition is open until January 9, 2022, and you can view the detailed schedule here.
